GUATEMALA COMMITMENT TO ATTRACT TOURISTS

Participation in tourism fairs becomes a showcase that gives a sample of the attractions that Guatemala has to offer. As part of the promotional activities carried out by the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism INGUAT, Guatemala participates in the Expotur 2015 for the fourth consecutive year, which takes place in San Jose, Costa Rica this 7 and 8 May.

Expotur is a tourism marketing opportunity, which becomes a business platform for the industry without chimneys.

Brenda Zaldaña, Head of Marketing said: "The aim of participating in the fair for Guatemala is to expand and maintain the range of the tourist sector contacts interested in selling the region. The fair attracts buyers from Europe and North and South America who are interested in selling or selling and countries of the Central American region. "

INGUAT, facilitated the participation of the fair with 18 companies in the private sector, including tour operators, hotels and airline.

According to statistics from market research INGUAT, in the first quarter of this year the number of visitors were tourists 578.616, showing an increase of 2.9 percent over the previous year. Of the total, 309.675 tourists were from Central America.

With regard to the revitalization of the economy, tourism generated in the first quarter of US $ 432.2 million dollars.
